Ministeries

Choir Ministry

Psalm 100:1-5 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his
people,
and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. To have unlimited access into God's presence, genuine worship, wholehearted
praises
and thanksgiving are the keys. Choristers at CMFI NL are specially ordained to lead the church into the proper atmosphere for true communication with our maker.

Christian Book Ministry

2 Timothy 3: 16-17 All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. At CMFI, we believe that the reading of books and Christian Literatures is indispensable to the Christian life. The book ministry thus encourages each believer to read books and provide great resources at the
book store

Children Ministry

Mark 10:14  When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them,“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these”.The children’s ministry aims to ignite the love for the gospel amongst young children. Sermons are tailor made to fit children of all ages (1-12), accompanied with fun learning activities and audio visual tools. Children are divided into three age groups to ensure they receive sufficient nurturing and word learning in accordance with the spirit.

Sanctuary Keepers

Numbers 18:5  And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath anymore on the children of Israel.Numbers 3:32 And Eleazer the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep charge of the Sanctuary.Psalms 20:2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. The sanctuary represents the holy of hollies. It is where God spoke to the Israelites and provided them with answers. Those ministering to the department have a priestly duty to oversee that everything needed during mass is available.

Students Ministry (CMFI MUN)

Students meet on Wednesdays at Memorial University, Chemistry building C2004 from 7-9pm and on Tuesdays there’s a bible study session for everyone from 7-9pm. The Christ centred discussion sessions foster a deeper understanding and application of the word

Pastorates Ministry

Psalms 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. This department oversees the affairs of the church by handling weekly sermons, exercising appropriate guidance and authority over members as required through the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer Ministry

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

God's will for us is to pray without relenting.

The prayer group offers intercessory prayer with the help of the Holy Spirit as in Romans 8:26 for the church. Christ has instructed the church to put on His whole Armour as we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ushering Ministry

Psalms 84:10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my
God,
than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Orderliness is key to the success of every church program. Our
ushers
are professionals responsible for maintaining safe and healthy church environment, working as the church's law enforcement agent and public relations officer according to their supernatural endowments.

Hospitality Ministry

Acts 20:25 I have shewed you all things, how that so
labouring
ye ought to support the
weak,
and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. This department's primary duty is to attend to the physical, financial and spiritual needs of members. They also work towards helping the poor within the church to be financially independent.

Multi-Media ministry

Psalms 96:3 Declare his glory among the nations, His wonders among all people. The multi-media ministry’s focus is to spread the word of God using various social media outlets both in and outside of the church. Inside the church, the media team helps create a great service experience including great sound and audio-visuals. Outside the churches 4 walls, this team manages all the p & e-media including bulletins, website, social network pages like Facebook and Instagram. We manage CMFI NL’s online congregation on our various social media platforms. There are many people who do not know Jesus online. Hence, we are mission-focused to spread the gospel as far as technology will let us to all who do not know Jesus.

How to Receive Jesus

ADMIT that you are a sinner. Tell God that you have personally sinned in your thoughts, words and actions. Tell Him that you take the responsibility for all your sins. Confess to Him all the sins that you have committed and which you can remember. Confess them to Him one after the other. Turn your back to them, forsake all your sins and sinful ways. Decide that you are finished forever with that type of life. God will not forgive you unless you are determined, with His help, to turn from and put an end to all your sins and sinful ways.

BELIEVE that Jesus Christ died on the cross in your place. By believing this, you are rejecting every system or philosophy that suggest that a man can be reconciled to God and go to heaven without passing through Jesus Christ. If you truly believe that Jesus is the only way that God has given for men to enter heaven, then you will want to receive Him personally into your heart and live. You will also want to do it at once before it becomes too late, but,

CONSIDER the cost of following him. Jesus will want you to love and obey Him in everything and for all time. At any time that the demands of Jesus will contradict your own desires or the demands of any other person or persons, you will have to obey Jesus at any cost to yourself. Are you prepared to abandon your own interests daily for those of Jesus? Are you prepared to suffer and, if need be, die for Him? If you are prepared to follow Him at any cost, then you should right now.

DO something about it. Invite Jesus to come into your life as your Saviour. You can receive Him by praying as follows:

"Lord Jesus, I am a wretched, lost sinner who has sinned in thought, word and deed.  Forgive me all my sins and cleanse me.  Receive me, Saviour, and transform me into a child of God.  Come into my heart now and give me eternal life.  I will follow You at all cost, trusting Your Holy Spirit to give me all the power that I need. Amen."

If you have received the Lord Jesus by praying the above prayer sincerely, then He has come into your life and written your name in the book of life and you will never perish. Follow Him at any cost.

If you invited Jesus into your heart, click the contact us button above and let us know about it. We will be glad to pray with you and help you grow in the new life that you have received!

Our Services

We meet on Sundays at 10 a.m. for our Sunday Worship Service and on Tuesday at 7pm for our Prayer and Bible Study meeting. It is our desire to welcome you and offer the opportunity for you to engage in worship and teaching from the Word of God at these services.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUR SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE

Worship:
We will begin with some time of singing in worship. Worship is an interactive, participatory experience. We invite you to join in as we praise God through singing by following the on-screen lyrics. Feel free to sit, stand, sing, dance or just listen as we express our worship to God using all of our heart, mind, soul and body. We are One CHURCH with different cultures present so you may hear us sing sometimes in a different language than English. If you don’t know the songs, hang on, we’ll sing them a couple of times -and don’t worry, we didn’t know them at first either.

Congregational Prayer Time:
After our exhilarating worship, we will have a time of praying together. Here, we talk to God, He hears us and He answers us!

Welcome and Testimonies:
We’d like to show you a warm welcome. Also, some members may share with the rest of the family what God is doing or has done in their lives.

The Offering:
We give tithes and offerings as an act of worship, obedience, and thanksgiving to the Lord. You can give during the service or anytime via our website and our “ChuchLink” app on your smart phone. If you are a guest, you are not obligated to give.

The Message:
A time of practical teaching from the Bible. After the service, there will be people up front to pray for any needs you may have. Please come up if interested! (During some services, we may have special features or take time to celebrate Communion. We welcome you to participate in this act of worship and remembrance.)

Refreshments:
Join us for some drinks and light refreshment in the foyer after the service.

About Us

Welcome to Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMFI), St. John’s Church. We are located at 31 Peet Street in St. John's, Newfoundland. We are one of the many CMFI Churches located in over 100 nations worldwide. CMFI was founded in 1975 in Cameroon. We are a bible-believing, bible-based church. Our goal is to make disciples for our Lord Jesus Christ, to raise a people who will obey the Lord Jesus Christ in all things and serve Him from the overflow of their love for Him and knowledge of Him.

Mission

Our mission in CMFI St. John's, Newfoundland, is to make disciples for Jesus from people of all nations, tribes, races and colours in Newfoundland and beyond (Matt 28:19).
We want to produce men and women who are hungry and thirsty for God. We want to produce individuals whose desire for God intensifies with time and who as a result of their hunger for God, seek God in a disciplined manner. Such will learn to find God through encounters with God and as a result of frequent encounters with God will know God from their personal experiences. And, because of their knowledge of God, they will love Him in an intelligent and continuous manner. They will thus serve God as the overflow of their knowledge and love for Him and while serving God, will enjoy Him in a personal romance so that it becomes their singular soul bliss. That is the unit of our ministry. We produce worshipers who enjoy Jesus as their soul bliss through the process of a developed personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Vision

To make 10,000 disciples in the St. John's Census Metropolitan Area for Christ.
Christian Missionary Fellowship International is a movement committed to the winning of souls, the making of disciples and the planting of Churches in each locality and in each nation of the world. It is a movement committed to the raising, training and sending of missionaries to all nations for the salvation of the people in those nations. Christian Missionary Fellowship International has been called to bring her contribution to the God-promised world revival through teaching the revived saints: Daily Dynamic Encounters with God, discipleship to Christ and accountability. Having received a God-given goal, she is committed to the pursuit and accomplishment of the goal which is to preach the Gospel to everyone who will be alive in our generation so that 10 billion people are reached with the Gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit, using every means of communication in the most urgent manner and to bring 1 billion people to know Jesus Christ as LORD and Saviour and who are being discipled to obey Him in all things by the year 2065A.D. The 1 billion people will fellowship and meet in 25 million House Churches. The desire to get the gospel to those in our generation was the overflow of the knowledge of the atoning death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross and the power of the gospel to save to the utmost. What the gospel is and a deep gratitude for salvation are at the back of this goal. The blood of Jesus is sufficient for the perishing souls of men.

In Cameroon, where the Headquarters of Christian Missionary Fellowship International is located, there over 1300 churches that have been planted. And over 200 national missionaries who have been sent to different localities in Cameroon. Outside Cameroon, Christian Missionary Fellowship International has over 200 international missionaries in about 100 nations on all the 6 continents.

Founder

Christian Missionary Fellowship International is the overflow of the apostolic ministry of Professor Zacharias Tanee Fomum, the founding Team-Leader of this movement. Zacharias Tanee Fomum can be rightly classified as one of the most sublime saints that ever walked this earth. To refer to him as the spiritual leader of our generation would be no exaggeration at all. His literary works are profound in originality, simplicity, relevance, practicality, depth, expanse, and penetration. Advanced as he was in academics as well as in the walk with God, his books were very simple, easy to understand and would leave the reader in no doubt as to what to do.
